The pattern of their feathers provide excellent camouflage while perched in trees. If you are lucky enough to see them in flight, they are silent and haunting as they glide through the woods. Owls hold a unique place in mythology, poetry, and art. I’ve observed great horned owls, barn owls, and most often, barred owls in the woods near my home, a short distance from the Little Sugar River."
