Artist Comments

ARTIST STATEMENT:

"The Artwork is from  a study of birds, in the outdoors on The Sugar River, as well as from  Peterson's, "A Field Guide to the Birds". 4th Edition, 1980.  I am interested in how an artist creates an iridescent color that the cerulean warbler shows modestly.  I also became  inspired by the blue cranes and green egrets and their coloring that John James Audubon used, while viewing a show at the Chazen in 2021, "Seeing Audubon: Robert Havell Jr.  and The Birds of America"  I have more often seen Blue Green Egrets, Herons and Cranes than the Cerulean Warbler, but love the showy blue/green color of the female cerulean warbler."
