Artist Comments

ARTIST STATEMENT:

"Painting allows me to capture places, people, and animals that are meaningful in my life. I use pallet knives to scrape layers upon layer of oil paint. The physicality of scraping, adding new layers overtime on a hard surface is intoxicating. Our farm and its environs Overlooking the Sugar River Valley is often my subject."

"Disappearing Act"

"Bob White Quail were once more abundant in the Sugar River Watershed. Farming practices that have reduced fence rows and old abandoned fields have helped in their decline. Listen when you are outside for their distinctive “Bob – Bob – white “call."
